Working From Home and Filtering Spam
|
|
A website will often send out emails such as new enquiries to the business owner or shopping carts to their customers.
There has been sporadic issues with email delivery to Microsoft accounts such as hotmail.com, live.com.au, outlook.com and sometimes other domains where email is hosted with Microsoft365.
When we checked some recent email delivery attempts from a website enquiry form to a live.com.au address we noticed they were rejected by the Microsoft spam filter and have been following up with individual clients where we think it may be affecting their receipt of enquiry form emails or shopping cart emails.
If you think you might have missed enquiries from your website we can offer the following to assist:
- show you how to access enquiries from the WordPress dashboard
- configure enquiry forms to connect to a CRM or Google Sheet
We are also working on a way of having a second or third email sending server configured on each website so that there is a failover in case email delivery doesn't succeed the first time.
If you have any questions about your email or website please let us know.

June 26 Stay at Home Order
At 6pm, June 26, a general stay at home order was released for Greater Sydney including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast and Wollongong. This means that websites are again a critical business tool for contacting your clients and customers, continuing to generate leads and completing sales. Jezweb would like to remind our clients to check their website content. Review your website copy, images, contact details so your site is as up to date as possible while COVID potentially locks people down. During a lockdown, customers can no longer see a business in person, so it is critical that customers feel as welcomed to your site as they do at say your office or storefront for example.
Essentially, in a lockdown or otherwise, your website should be your online office for your customers to visit. They should feel as though they are receiving the same experience from your website as they do when receiving your in person customer service.
It is also worth noting that some customers might have anxiety about they can get in touch with your company during a lockdown. So ensure your contact details are easy for customers to find and people are aware you are equipped to complete remote meetings via Zoom or Microsoft Teams for example. Jezweb suggests clients consider a "COVID 19 information banner" on their website so that customers can remain up to date with your policies and procedures.

Google My Business
As technology continuously moves forwards, so do digital marketing strategies and techniques. Businesses must ensure that their marketing strategy is up to date and and making use of all tools as they become available. Google My Business is a useful tool in that it allows you to generate leads via customers making location based searches on Google. If you don't yet have a Google My Business listing for your company, it might be time to consider it.
So what is google my business? Google My Business, hereafter abbreviated to GMB, is a free tool that allows businesses to create a visible listing to host information about your contact details, opening hours, website and reviews. It creates a tile with your business information that is linked to keywords and location data associated with your business. This potentially means that when a customer completes google search for metrics associated with your business your listing could appear front and centre.

What is Spam and Why Should We Avoid It?
Spam
noun
"irrelevant or unsolicited messages sent over the internet, typically a large number of users, for the purposes of advertising, phishing, spreading malware, etc."
We've all experienced email spam at some point. It's annoying, it wastes resources and at the end of the day it costs you money. Whilst the spam emails we often receive in our inbox may seem harmless, it can definitely cause some significant issues. Some spam emails can harbour malicious content such as phishing links or malware that could infect and attack your computer. It's safe to say that spam email should generally be avoided if at all possible.
Jezweb has recently been trialling a new spam filter for Gravity Forms with some clients. This service option is currently in the testing phase but if this is something you would be interested in for business, feel free to get in contact with us.
