Trialling WordPress 2FA

Jezweb will be starting to trial two-factor authentication implementation on client websites in the coming months, in order to protect client websites from malicious attacks that could harm one of a business's most valuable assets.

What is 2FA?

Two-factor authentication is a security mechanism that protects a sign on by requesting a secondary source of confirmation from a separate area. This might be something like a text message that gets sent to your phone or a code sent to your email address to make sure it's actually you trying to sign in.

Why is it a good idea?

2FA or Two-factor authentication is a security mechanism that protects a sign on by requesting a secondary source of confirmation from a separate area. This might be something like a text message that gets sent to your phone or a code sent to your email address to make sure it's actually you trying to sign in.

Does Jezweb recommend the use of 2FA?

We recommend all clients utilise two-factor authentication where possible, but we do understand that there are situations where it is not well suited or could complicate business workflows unnecessarily. We encourage all of our clients to engage in security best practices where they can, and we understand that not every one of our clients will be wanting to take on two-factor authentication at this time. However, if you are interested in setting up 2FA on your site to protect your account, feel free to reach out to us and let us know!

Does Jezweb recommend the use of 2FA?

If you elect to trial 2FA on your website, the way you log in will change slightly. Now we're not talking about a massive change, just an extra step.

At the moment, your WordPress sign-on looks something like this:

Step 1: Go to yoursite.com.au/wp-admin
Step 2: Input Username
Step 3: Input Password

And you're in!

So, if you DO decide to implement 2FA, your sign-on process will look like this instead:

Step 1: Go to yoursite.com.au/wp-admin
Step 2: Input Username
Step 3: Input Password
Step 4: Enter the code you receive via email or SMS

And you're in!

It really is pretty simple.
And as always, if you have any questions or get stuck at any point, we are here to help. So, if you are interested in being part of this trial, just let us know! You could reply to this email, give us a call or send through an enquiry on our website! Or, if there's a member of the Jezweb team that you're in regular contact with, feel free to ask them to add you to the list.

.au is Here!

The wait is over! Top-level domains in Australia are now here. If you're keen on grabbing your domain's corresponding .au domain now's the time to grab it before it ticks over to being available to the public.

Do I Need to Purchase my .au Domain?
Absolutely not. It's totally up to you. However, we do recommend our clients protect all relevant business assets, both existing and potential.

Will it drive more traffic to my website?
Unfortunately, no. In fact changing your primary domain name can actually have negative impacts for your SEO. We recommend our clients stay with their .com.au domain as their primary option and redirect via .au for the time being!

Book Launch at the Happy Wombat

Client and friend, David Ross has a book launch in Newcastle coming up. Truly a well-written book makes him a legit subject matter expert business coach and you could not ask for a better 'business card' than a book handed to a prospective client. Very impressed!

The launch event is next Thursday at 5.30pm at the The Happy Wombat.

Registrations are closing soon and I’d hate for you to miss out on your spot on the guest list.

The event is free, but you must have a ticket to attend. You can read more on the event and grab your ticket now by going to.

FAQ provided by David:

Q: I don’t finish work until 6, can I still come if late?
A: We'd love for you to be there on time but if you are close to 6pm it shouldn't be a problem.

Q: I already have a copy of the book, is the launch relevant to me?
A: Definitely. I'll be going through some key take-outs in the book and providing some quick fire Q&A. It's also a great chance to meet some fellow business owners.

Q: I hate these cheese and biscuit events. What’s in it for me?
A: Ha ha, I get it, but the food will be so much better PLUS I always try to make our events so much more than a bunch of boring suits swapping business cards!
