End of Year Newsletter
As another year at Jezweb comes to a close, we look back on all the websites we have designed, SEO campaigns completed, hosting provided and happy clients that have made our 2022 year a success. We would like to take the opportunity to present some of the highlights of our 2022 year with everyone as we prepare for another busy year in 2023.

Jezweb celebrated 20 years
At the very top of our achievements list this year was our 20th anniversary celebration. Over the past two decades, we have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients and helping them to achieve their online goals. From small businesses to large corporations, we have been able to use our skills and expertise to create websites that are both functional and visually appealing.
The Jezweb team celebrated 20 long years with loyal clients, enjoyed reminiscing about the history of Jezweb and how it has changed, and even enjoyed some sneaky cake and yummy treats!

We took home the trophy
2022 was the year that we took out the title for the Australian Small Business Champion Awards in the Web Development category. After a grueling application process and many hours of collating information together, we are proud to be recognised as the industry leader for web development for small businesses throughout Australia. It is such a significant achievement for Jezweb and showcases our commitment to excellence and helping our client's succeed.

The Jezweb HelpDesk
In 2022, we established our new helpdesk team to expand the level of support available to our clients. Headed by our support representatives, Wilson and Anna, our clients can now email help@jezweb.net directly for any support requests and they will be streamlined to our development team for quicker management and implementation. Our helpdesk operates consistently 7 days a week.
We also established our managed support ticket system to allow clients to submit their requests online themselves which works to improve and streamline our processes as well: https://www.jezweb.com.au/website-request/

A look at some of our websites from this year
As we close out 2022, we want to take the opportunity to look back on our output of the year and the range of clients that we have been able to support with their online presence. We have worked to develop websites for clients from several industries including accommodation, retail, sport, health, trades, and community services. In total, we have launched over 200 websites in 12 months!

A look at the technical world
.au domain releases
Earlier this year, we saw the release of .au domains which gave our clients the opportunity to register shorter, simpler domain names for their businesses. The priority registration process started in March 2022, with businesses who already had the primary .com.au domain. We were able to process registrations right up to September 2022, after which time the priority window closed and we waited anxiously to see if we got approvals on the domains for our clients. In total, we priority registered over 100 different .au domains for our clients.
The general public release for .au domains occurred in October and now we are starting to see the presence of simple .au domains become the norm for incoming websites. When we complete a domain registration now, our preference is to register a .com.au and .au as your 2 inclusive domains. We will be interested to see the impact that the .au domain release has on businesses and especially how they are being used to simplify marketing materials and email addresses in 2023.
ChatGPT - Open source AI content
This is only a relatively new addition to the technical world (launched in December) but definitely worth a mention in our yearly summary. Developed by OpenAI and backed by Microsoft and Elon Musk, this revolutionary chat box transformer works by answering queries using AI technology. While it is still in research and testing phases at the moment, it is definitely changing the way that we can research and develop content for online distribution. The modelled software interacts in a conversational manner, meaning that instead of providing a generic response, the AI is able to produce answers to complex queries, answer follow up questions and even interpret CSS and javascript code to scan for incorrect lines. It really is a technological marvel and will be definitely be an area of interest in 2023 as it moves from testing phases to fully operational for the general public.

Cloudflare Turnstile - the alternative to standard reCAPTCHA
2022 has been a year plagued with security concerns with the Optus and Medibank breeches, but Jezweb has been actively investigating and trialling new ways to make your website's more secure. We recently launched a trial of Cloudflare Turnstile for select customers as an alternative to standard reCAPTCHA on website forms (yes we are talking about the 'I am not a robot' tick box). So far, we have seen some promising results with reduce levels of spam incoming and have also identified some areas of improvement and reported back to the plugin developers so they can improve moving into 2023.

Elementor moves to Flexbox Containers
Flexbox Containers are a new lean layout structure that brings CSS Flexbox into the Elementor Editor. This structure allows us to achieve pixel-perfect responsive designs and highly advanced layouts quickly, and with a much slimmer markup, which improves performance significantly. In layman's terms, containers use less code to build than previous iterations of the editor, which means your website has the potential to load faster. This feature marks a transformative shift in how websites are built using Elementor’s builder and is the foundation of a variety of additional, advanced capabilities. In all new website builds since the launch of the Flexbox Containers, our team have been experimenting with them and comparing the actual difference in site speed between their sections/columns counterpart. It has been an exciting development in the website design world and will continue to allow us to improve in the future.

Christmas Trading Hours
With the festive season looming, we understand that a lot of our clients will be taking the time to spend with their families. Jezweb will be operational during the Christmas/New Year period, only logging off for the designated public holidays.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our clients for their support and loyalty in 2022 and wish you a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous and healthy New Year. So to finish off our end of year newsletter, we present our Jezweb Christmas poem.
'Twas the night be Christmas and all through the land,
Jezweb was busy building the most amazing websites by hand,
They'd been in business for 20 long years,
Building WordPress sites, filling clients with cheer,
With stunning designs and smooth functionality,
Their websites were the envy of the online community,
As Santa Clause arrived with his sleigh full of cheer,
He knew Jezweb would be the ones to bring his website to the next tier,
