Tips for Building Quality Backlinks To Your Website

Backlink? What’s a backlink?

Yes, it’s a common question we get asked when we quote for an SEO package for a website. Think of a backlink like a recommendation from one website to another. When a site links to yours and vice versa, it’s a thumbs up that says', “This content is worth checking out.”

Google likes these recommendations and they form a crucial component of boosting your site’s visibility, reputation and credibility. The more quality backlinks you have from reputable sites, the better your chances of climbing up those search result rankings.

So, next time you see a link pointing back to your site, give it a virtual high-five—it’s helping your online presence shine!

One of our long term clients recently approached us about an opportunity that has become a crucial part of their business; being a newsletter author on LinkedIn. For their business, it is proving to be a valuable marketing pipeline with enquiries coming through both, subscribers and direct messages. So, we have been looking to see whether it is a viable option for Jezweb, and we are pleased to say that it will be something that we will look to implement in the future. We will keep you posted on our experience with it!

So how does it work?

Subscribers get notified whenever you post something new, so it's all about keeping them engaged with topics they love. Plus, anyone on LinkedIn can discover and share your updates. You can start your newsletter as yourself or even as your Business LinkedIn Page. It's a fantastic way to build your professional presence and connect with your audience.

Online Email Phishing Scam Targeting .au Domain Name Holders

We were recently emailed by Education Services Australia regarding a potential email phishing scam that is going around, specifically targeting .au domain name holders.

The scam emails are being sent by a third party posing as an auDA employee. They request registrants click a link to confirm the contact details associated with their .au domain name, in order to retain their .au domain name licence.

If you have received or receive an email of this nature, do not click on the links contained within it, reply to it, or provide any personal identification information or documents to the sender.

auDA has contacted Scamwatch and the ACCC in regards to this.

We have some included some helpful tips below to help you distinguish between phishing emails and legitimate ones.

  • Check the sending address - Verify the email address to ensure it comes from a well known domain name.

  • Look for spelling and grammatical errors - Phishing emails often contain typos and errors throughout which is uncommon in a professional email.

  • Examine the greeting - Look out for how the sender has addressed you. Generic greetings like, “Hello Customer” can be a red flag.

  • Urgency/Threats - Emails that create a sense of urgency or make threats of consequences by not acting immediately are generally red flags. Legitimate businesses will rarely use a threatening tone with no prior communications to prompt them.

  • Request for personal information - Legitimate businesses will not ask for sensitive information, like personal data, bank information or passwords via email.

  • Trust your instincts - If the email feels off, it generally is. Go directly to the source of the ‘supposed’ email sender and verify its authenticity through official channels.

If you receive an email like this and are unsure of its legitimacy, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team for verification.
