About the Karuah Progress Association - a word from the volunteers!
“The Karuah Progress Association (KPA) is a fully volunteer-run Incorporated Association that meets monthly. Our mission is to advocate for and promote the Karuah Community.
Karuah is a unique town with a diverse population, including oyster leaseholders, fishermen, farmers, businesses, families, the Worrimi community, and tourists. While the town offers much to these groups, it lacked a central hub to bring everyone together. A local newsletter, limited in length and distribution, often fails to reach all residents as the town grows, and surrounding areas like Swan Bay, The Branch, and North Arm Cove are often left out.
The town faced challenges from the highway bypass and the impact of COVID-19, which caused a dwindling population. However, Karuah is now experiencing a building boom with new subdivisions completed and more planned. A Karuah website will help rebuild awareness of the town as a destination for tourists, businesses, and residents, providing opportunities for new community members to engage, connect, and learn about our amazing township.
After deciding on the need for a website, we applied for and received a grant through the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR). We then had the task of selecting a web designer, as we wanted a professional website. Based on several recommendations, we chose Jezweb Web Design!”
