As we continue exploring how AI could revolutionise everyday tasks and business workflows it’s evident that we need more integrations between the vitrual and physical. AI's ability to "see" and interpret images has immense potential. I’ve made invently.au to demonstrate. It’s a web application that uses the AI vision to analyse room photos, and create an inventory.

AI Vision is Transforming Workflows

Have you ever considered how many decisions in your workflow or business are based on the manual analysis of photos? AI Vision is changing this, creating opportunities for increased automation, more efficient oversight, and consistent data gathering. You may have already used a tool like this to identify plants, find matching images in Google or sort your photos by the people and pets in them. With AI vision, processes that once required human intervention, are now becoming automated, and this can greatly increase speed and reduce costs.

I've created a working example of how AI can transform photos into an inventory to help provide a tangible look at what is possible. It’s not as accurate as a tape measure but if the photos are well proportioned and good quality it works pretty well. Definitely a lot faster than manually itemising and measureing everything!

It’s easy to see how this tech could be applied in lots of industries including Real Estate, Insurance, Construction, Retail and many more aspects of life and work.

If you browse to invently.au you can try the demo by uploading one or more room photos to the page for it to analyse. Once you have finished uploading all your images there are download links for a compiled report csv, xlsx or pdf organised by room.

Google's AI, and others like it, are rapidly advancing in image analysis and spatial reasoning. Going far beyond simple object detection, it now incorporates contextual understanding, fine-grained recognition, and depth perception. It’s capable of identifying objects, and also understanding the relationships between them.

You can see how this looks in the context of a business website and process at MoveIQ.au which uses the inventory creator as part of a quote request form.

I’m super excited about the potential of AI tools now that they are maturing to a truly useful toolbox of skills. We’re thinking more about Large Language Models (LLMs) as multi modal AI systems that can handle text, audio, video and photos as well as streamed audio and video. I’m going to be exploring the potential of AI to solve real-world problems and drive efficiency in business throughout 2025.
