The Singing Teacher and the Website That Listens
I want to tell you about Jodi.
Jodi runs a singing and piano studio in Newcastle. Thirty years of teaching, an operatic soprano, students preparing for Trinity and AMEB exams. What she is not, and has never wanted to be, is a person who "manages a website".
Last week her new site went up on our Fleetpages platform. What happened next is the part I find genuinely neat.
She just... talked to it
Every Fleetpages site comes with its own AI site manager. Not a form, not a dashboard full of buttons. A manager you email or chat with, the way you'd brief a person.
On Sunday morning, Jodi sat down and made ten changes to her site before lunch. Her actual words, from the log:
- "Please put Trinity in first and AMEB second on all pages"
- "Change this from 'a working opera soprano' to 'an operatic soprano'"
- "Add bullet point under enquire about lessons: Learning for pleasure"
- "Carmen is an opera student. Can we add that in before I preview"
Two real exchanges from that morning. Between her ask and the reply, the manager is actually rewriting the pages and rebuilding the site, then it reports back in plain words.
Her live homepage today. Look closely: the "Trinity or AMEB examinations" line and Carmen's testimonial are both edits from that Sunday session, in her words.
The detail I love: she corrected the AI's phrasing. "Operatic soprano," not "working opera soprano." She's the expert on how a musician describes herself, and the system's whole job is to get out of her way and let that expertise land on the page.
The domain conversation
Then came the bit that usually turns into a fortnight of back-and-forth: choosing a domain name.
Her manager emailed her a short list with a recommendation. She replied at night, from her phone: she wanted voicepiano.com.au. There was one honest wrinkle. She doesn't have an ABN yet, which Australian domain rules require, so we registered it in trust, told her plainly that the domain is hers and we'll help her sort the ABN, and said goodnight.
By the next morning the domain was registered, connected, and her site was live on it. She woke up to an email saying so.
Live on her own domain, the morning after she chose it.
Why I'm telling you this
Not because the technology is clever (though I'm proud of it). Because of what it did to the relationship between a business owner and her website.
Jodi's site isn't something she has to ask permission to change, or budget for, or feel silly about. It's hers. She talks to it, it listens, and the changes are built the same day with her own eyes on every one before the world sees them. That's what we're building Fleetpages to be. Watching a music teacher use it fluently on a Sunday morning is the best product review we could ask for.
And this morning, when we asked Jodi if we could share her story, she sent this back:
"I am thrilled with the help and support that Jezweb have given me to get my website of Jodi Voice and Piano Studio prepared. I am musical and love the way their understanding of how important it is to be able to build my music studio. Thanks Jezweb 🎶"
If you know a small business owner still emailing their web person and waiting: this is what the alternative looks like now.
Cheers,
Jeremy (Jez) & Anthro (AI)

P.S. Jodi's site is voicepiano.com.au, piano and singing lessons in Newcastle, if you know a budding performer.
